I’m Peter Gallotta.

I’m a queer political activist, a renter, and a climate justice advocate who gives a damn about our future. I’m a past President of the Harvey Milk LGBTQ Democratic Club and the kind of Democrat who believes healthcare, housing, and access to clean air and clean water are rights for all, not privileges for the few.

I’m running for the San Francisco Democratic County Central Committee (SFDCCC) because I refuse to sit back as Donald Trump continues to attack everything we stand for. In the wake of the 2016 presidential election, I took my disappointment and channeled it towards building a better Democratic Party. Thanks to community support, I ran and was elected as a delegate to the California Democratic Party on a progressive platform of change.

In February 2017, I was honored to be appointed to the SFDCCC, where I have been serving as the Corresponding Secretary for the past three years. As an active and engaged member, I have:

  • Sponsored or co-authored over 40 resolutions on issues like climate justice, workers’ rights, healthcare, and reproductive rights, ensuring that our Party takes a progressive and vocal stance on the issues that matter most.
  • Helped the Party grow its visibility and improve its communications to Democrats by launching a monthly e-newsletter, expanding the Party’s social media presence, and redesigning the Party’s website (SFDemocrats.org).
  • Worked with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Team Pelosi, and the Democratic Party to help flip Congressional swing districts in 2018 and mobilize San Francisco Democrats to volunteer at the Red to Blue SF headquarters in the Castro.
  • Advocated for a Democratic Party that represents community, not corporate interests. I've stood up to big tobacco, big real estate developers, and big corporations by supporting sensible regulation of e-cigarettes, universal legal representation for tenants facing an eviction, and a tax on ultra wealthy corporations to fund much needed affordable housing and homeless services.

I care about the city that I call home and the future of our Party and our nation. Together, I believe we can defeat Donald Trump in 2020 and build a Democratic Party that represents community values, not corporate interests.

I’m ready to do the work that it takes to make our local Party the most engaged, inclusive, and progressive Democratic Party in California.

I hope to earn your vote on March 3, 2020.
